Is this a good idea or been done too much?

I'm planning my first novel at the moment and gathering ideas for plots and developing etc. I had an idea of writing about a character who lives a completely ordinary life, then he/she has a near death experience or something similar that sparks in them the incentive to change and live the most of every day and the novel would explore the impact of that. I just wondered if it is something you would be interested in reading or if it sounds too unoriginal/done too much? I had the idea of the title: Carpe Diem, as it means "Seize the day" in latin.
