Will Katara and Zuko never end up together in Avatar: The Last Airbender?? :(?

So us fans all knows how the last episode ended with Aang and Katara kissing but I was hoping that she would end up with Zuko later on in her life but I was reading about the new series coming out, Avatar: The Legend Of Korra and it mentions Aang and Katara having a kid. Is that official official?? so is there no hope? because I honestly think they would of been better together and that Mai girl is UGLY for zuko.
